“Where Truth can Enter”

ABOMINATIONS THAT BE DONE IN THE MIDST THEREOF

  1. The knockout blow of 1959 propaganda;
  2. The beloved name “Davidia” and the hated name “Eleventh-hour church”;
  3. Association formed as a result of WW II propaganda;
  4. Accepting the additions to the Shepherd’s Rod Message and teaching for doctrines the errors therein;
  5. Tormenting Mother with the distribution on literature in front of the churches on Sabbath, at camp meetings and other SDA events.

Accepting the additions to the Shepherd’s Rod Message and teaching for doctrines the errors therein.

This abomination is the worst of all for it is impersonating the truth. Let us see what happens to the Truth when anything is added to it, even if the thing may seem good to us.

The Shepherd’s Rod Volume 1, page 143, paragraph 2 says:

SR1: 143.2: Suppose you would add an element to the milk, would it not be a strange one?  And if it be a strange one to the milk, would it be foreign to the human system?  If this be true, we must conclude it would be poison to the human body.  “But,” you say, “Suppose I add the element of iron, it would not then be poison.”  By adding another element, it would put the milk out of balance, and it would be milk no longer.  It is impossible for human wisdom to improve on God’s work.  Just so, it is impossible for us to neglect one of God’s words and yet maintain spiritual life, neither can we add, though the thing may be good, as we may see it.  It would throw the Word out of balance, and it would be God’s Word no longer, just as the milk would be milk no longer.  God’s Word must be kept in the human heart, pure and unadulterated, if we must live by it.  “This robe, woven in the loom of heaven has in it not one thread of human devising.”–Christ’s Object Lessons, page 311.

This statement makes it crystal clear that adding to the Word makes it no longer God’s Word. We have the example of the Jewish Sanhedrin, they added to God’s law and it led them to kill His only begotten Son. Let us now look at the additions made to the SROD message after the prophet’s death.

It was first done openly, but the enemy had to change his tactics because of the unexpected outcry.

Volume 11 The Symbolic Code No. 1, published in November of 1955, was the first addition to the Rod message and it caused an unexpected cry from a Council Member.  We shall read about the cry shortly; before that, let us read a little about this new doctrine in Volume 11 The Symbolic Code No. 1.

The introduction in this Code on page 3 reads:

11SC1: 3.1: Inquiries have come to Mt. Carmel headquarters in recent months asking what was the last light that Brother Houteff received before his passing. Sister Houteff brings this light to our attention at this time because of the lateness of the hour, the vital current importance of the prophecy involved, and over and above all because it has not become the divinely-appointed time to make this heart-stirring revelation known to all Davidians.

11SC1: 3.2: During the last months of his life, Brother Houteff was engaged in studying Timely Greetings, Vol. 2, No 15, preparatory to enlarging upon the subject matter therein for its reprint. At this time he expressed the definite conviction that the time prophecy of Revelation 11:2-12 and Daniel 12:6, 7 could have met their fulfilment only in type from 538 A. D. to 1798 A. D. and that they have a latter-day fulfilment. The basis for this conclusion now follows: …..

We are not going to read the new doctrine in its entirety, but we shall read the conclusion of it. It says:

11SC1: 12.2: From this study we can clearly see the following facts:

  1. That the fulfillment of the slaughter of Ezekiel 9 is immediately preceded by the forty-two months (Rev. 11:3), or 1260 days (Rev. 11:3), or the “time, times and an half” (Dan. 12: 7);
  2. That during the days of this prophecy the Gentiles are treading the holy city, Jerusalem, at the end of which they are to be driven out;
  3. That during this time prophecy there is a cessation of the latter rain;
  4. That great power is exercised by the Two Witnesses (the two olive trees and the two candlesticks), so that They are able to give mortal life to one class, and to destroy any who would hurt Them, and to smite the earth with all plagues as often as They will;
  5. That this period terminates with the slaughter of Ezekiel 9 (an act of God), war brought by Christendom against the Two Witnesses (an act of men), and a 3 ½ day period when the Two Witnesses are dead after which They rise in great exaltation by Divine interposition.

11SC1: 13.1: For further study concerning the sequence of events surrounding the fulfilment of Ezekiel 9, please read the Fundamental Beliefs – Timely Greetings, Vol. 2, No. 10 pp. 29, 30; ….

This was the open adding to the Message in November of 1955, nine months after the prophet’s deathFlorence Houteff believed that Davidians would immediately accept her as the successor to the prophetic office.  To her surprise, not all were ready for her succession — or put in a better way, her usurpation — of the prophet’s office, and the opposition began on the hill.  Let us read her statement at an Executive Council meeting after Volume 11 The Symbolic Code No. 1 was published. We shall focus on the portions of the document that are highlighted in red:

MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE EXECUTIVE COUNCIL

Held in the Office of the Vice-President

7:45 P.M.

December 3, 1955

While waiting for all the members to convene a letter from James McDonald Williams, British Guiana, dated November 28, vas read.

Quoting from this letter:

“The statement in the letter on page 2, paragraph 6 indicating that Pastor M. J. Bingham is no longer a messenger of the Lord have done much harm here. Especially amongst the Laodiceans.

“The excommunication of Pastor Bingham is the biggest shock since the death of Pastor Houteff, and it shows great blindness on the part of those responsible, especially in the light or Testimonies for the Church, Vol. 7, pages, 262-263″ and then he proceeds to quote from those pages.

He closed his letter with the words: “And so I would like to know if he is no longer a servant of God? because I am ready to finance his mission to the Island of Barbados, a field that has not yet been worked. Awaiting your prompt reply.”

The reference from Vol. 7 which he quoted was not quoted in full for it was read to the Council from the book, too. This shows a deliberate attempt to juggle the words around so that it will be saying something which the reference does not say, let alone teach. There was a sentence in the first part of the letter which is perhaps significant: “Incidentally he (M. J. Bingham) is at the moment here carrying out a series of meetings in places unworked.”

The meeting was called to order and A. Quackenbush prayed for the success of the meeting.

It was reported that Brother Sealy handed in his application for a Certificate of Fellowship with the reservation that he believed the March 1955 “Code” the way T. O Hermanson explained it to him. It was the consensus of opinion that he cannot receive a Certificate of Fellowship with such reservations and will have to appear before the Council to clear himself.

Mr. Tom Joseph seems very anxious to buy the 17 ½ acres and will pay $1300 per acre at 29% cash down. The city has made a new ruling on the Dam #1 to Dam #4 gully. It may be necessary for the developer to construct a storm sewer with a concrete apron on either side.

It was decided to try the other prospects to see what they will offer for the land. Mr. Chastain reported to the Office that Mr. Johnson wants to see how the street, Chastain Circle, will look and to see “how many lots he will have to lose.” It was suggested that some one go out and stake out this street and show it to Mr. Johnson.

… returned and said that there was no use going out to the field as the church was now “giving the message of the purification of the church. Some time later Brother Wolfe started another battering rams’ campaign. This same brother joined in the program. Then they asked Brother Houteff to subsidize them but he would no do so. Now Stoy you were in the hunting work but quit. Why now are you starting another battering rams campaign?

It was learned in this meeting that Brother Wolfe had asked those young people who rode in his car to Fort Worth, What about the umbrella if there is no rain?

Richard Knipple told his father, Brother Wolfe doesn’t talk like a Davidian.

Stoy: In that case, if Brother Wolfe talks like that I don’t think the Young People should be going with him.

Sister Houteff asked this pertinent question: If it is true that Brother Wolfe cannot believe any thing that Brother Houteff did not write, then what will He do when the solemn assembly is called if Brother Houteff is not here to call it? Someone has to know when to sound the alarm and blow the trumpet.

Before Stoy was dismissed Sister Houteff told him she wanted to talk with him soon about the Davidian Youth Society and the Officers.

Jack Knipple, Jr. had asked T. O. Hermanson to officiate at his wedding. A motion was made by Jack Knipple, Sr.: “I move that the Council authorize T. O. Hermanson to officiate at their wedding.”

This motion was seconded by C. W. Helman and carried by unanimous vote.

The meeting adjourned at 11:45 P.M. and J. R. Custer dismissed the meeting by prayer.

The statement we are interested in is:

Sister Houteff asked this pertinent question: If it is true that Brother Wolfe cannot believe any thing that Brother Houteff did not write, then what will he do when the solemn assembly is called if Brother Houteff is not here to call it? Someone has to know when to sound the alarm and blow the trumpet.

Here we see that Bro. Wolfe is questioning the new doctrine, obviously the 42 months — and they “are already in” the 42 months.

In the very next Symbolic Code, the publishers added the lie. I say “the lie” because it was now convenient for them to add in the very next Symbolic Code the little preface “sermon delivered by the late V. T. Houteff on such and such a date.” Let us read Volume 11 The Symbolic Code No. 2, page 3:

11SC2: 3.1: “From time to time, as the Lord directs, it will be the privilege of The Symbolic Code to publish certain sermons delivered by the late Brother V. T. Houteff through the years before the Timely Greetings series was started. These sermons will be judiciously selected on the basis of their current application to our present needs, from the most complete collection of existing notes on his addresses since 1929. These discourses should prove just as encouraging and helpful and perhaps even more timely in view of the closing phase of the work for the church than they were when they were delivered.

11SC2: 3.2: The sermon selected for this issue is the one the servant of the Lord delivered May 13, 1944:”

Note that Sister Florence Houteff neither got these “sermons” from “original manuscripts” as the Davidian ministers at Waco are preaching, nor from “index cards” as the famous teacher at Salem proclaims.  Sister Florence wrote that she got the sermons from the most complete collection of existing notes on his addresses since 1929.  Who do we believe: the publisher of the sermons, or the Davidians 50 years later? Are we to believe that the present day Davidians know better than Florence Houteff as to where she got the sermons from?  You decide.

Based on what was written by Florence, someone had to have composed these “notes” into sermons because the publications in the New Codes are not notes, they are complete sermons! Who might that be? I don’t really care.

Let us look at the delivery dates of the sermons, the dates they were published, and the time period between the said datesThis is important since the promulgators of these sermons will tell you: “No one objected to these sermons when Florence Houteff published them, and the same believers were around when the prophet delivered these sermons; and if these sermons were not the prophet’s, then the believers who were present when these sermons were delivered would have objected.”  I say, ask them: “How do they know that no one objected?” Even better, ask them to give you a detailed account of a sermon that was delivered 10 years ago and see how well they remembered it!

Let us look at these sermons and their dates.

11 Symbolic Code Number 2’s sermon was supposed to have been preached on May 13, 1944 but it was not published until December of 1955 — that is 11 years later.

11 Symbolic Code Number 2

11 Symbolic Code Number 3’s sermon was supposed to have been preached on November 11, 1944 but it was not published until January of 1956 — that is 11 years later, too.

11 Symbolic Code Number 3

11 Symbolic Code Number 4’s sermon was supposed to have been preached on May 27, 1944 but it was not published until February of 1956 — that is 11 years later also.

11 Symbolic Code Number 4

11 Symbolic Code Number 6’s sermon was supposed to have been preached on June 16, 1934 but it was not published until April of 1956 — that is 22 years later.

11 Symbolic Code Number 6

11 Symbolic Code Number 7’s sermon was supposed to have been preached on February 27, 1943 but it was not published until May of 1956 — that is 13 years later.

11 Symbolic Code Number 7

Are we expecting someone to remember whether these sermons were actually preached by Brother Houteff? I don’t think so. But the promulgators of these erroneous doctrines want us to believe that these brethren would have remembered!

11 Symbolic Code Number 8’s sermon was supposed to have been preached on June 10, 1943 but it was not published until June of 1956 — that is 12 years later.

11 Symbolic Code Number 8

11 Symbolic Code Number 12’s sermon was supposed to have been preached on June 8, 1946 but it was not published until October of 1956 — that is 10 years later.

11 Symbolic Code Number 12

12 Symbolic Code Number 1’s sermon was supposed to have been preached on June 30, 1942 but it was not published until November of 1956 — that is 14 years later.

12 Symbolic Code Number 1

12 Symbolic Code Number 2’s sermon was supposed to have been preached on July 20, 1946 but it was not published until December of 1956 — that is 10 years later.

12 Symbolic Code Number 2

12 Symbolic Code Number 3’s sermon was supposed to have been preached on March 18, 1939 but it was not published until January of 1957 — that is 17 years later.

12 Symbolic Code Number 3

12 Symbolic Code Number 4’s sermon was supposed to have been preached on May 6, 1944 but it was not published until February of 1957 — that is 12 years later.

12 Symbolic Code Number 4

12 Symbolic Code Number 5’s sermon was supposed to have been preached on July 15, 1944 but it was not published until March of 1957 — that is 12 years later.

12-Symbolic-Code-Number-5

12 Symbolic Code Numbers 6 and 7’s sermon was supposed to have been preached on April 24, 1943 but it was not published until May of 1957 — that is 14 years later.

12 Symbolic Code Numbers 6 and 7

12 Symbolic Code Numbers 8 and 9’s sermon was supposed to have been preached on March 6, 1943 but it was not published until July of 1957 — that is 14 years later.

12 Symbolic Code Numbers 8 and 9

13 Symbolic Code Numbers 1 and 2’s sermon was supposed to have been preached on June 15, 1945 but it was not published until December of 1957 — that is 12 years later.

13 Symbolic Code Numbers 1 and 2

The famous 13 Symbolic Code Numbers 3 and 4’s sermon was supposed to have been preached on June 22, 1940 but it was not published until February of 1958 — that is 18 years later.

13 Symbolic Code Numbers 3 and 4

Thus it is that we have a span of 10-22 intervening years between the delivery dates of the sermons and the dates they were published. Are we really expecting someone to remember whether these sermons were actually preached by Bro. Houteff? I don’t think so.

Now let us look as one of the obvious contradictions found in one of the additions to the Message. We will begin with the Truth.

Let us read Tract Number 5, page 78, paragraph 4 to page 79. paragraph 2:

TN5: 78.4: In coming from the “golden altar,” the command, “Loose the four angels,” shows that the sixth trumpet sounded sometime before the vail to the Most Holy apartment of the heavenly sanctuary was lifted. Otherwise the voice would have come from the throne — the Most Holy place. (For detailed treatment of the lifting of the vail, see Tract No. 3, The Harvest.)  But as has been shown, we are still in the period of the fifth trumpet, a fact which evokes the question: How, then, could the sixth trumpet have sounded before the events of the fifth had expired? 1942

TN5: 79.1: It will be observed that though each of the trumpets begin at a definite time, yet one overlaps the other, and all seven extend to the second coming of Christ.  This is seen in the coexistence of the truths of all seven.  The flood (first trumpet), the Exodus movement (second trumpet), the giving of the Old Testament Scriptures (third trumpet), the church’s going into captivity (fourth trumpet), Christ’s first advent and subsequent events (fifth trumpet), are all sounding louder today than ever before.  And as these truths constitute the gospel for today, it is evident that though the trumpets run in consecutive order, each beginning at a different time, they all continue in force to the end of the world, terminating therewith.  Thus the rejection of one being tantamount to the rejection of all seven, the lesson is sharply drawn that to reject one truth is to reject the whole truth. 1942

TN5: 79.2: With the fourteenth verse of Revelation 9 begins the description of the sixth trumpet, and it ends with the fourteenth verse of Revelation 11, which announces: “The second woe [sixth trumpet] is past; and, behold, the third woe cometh quickly.”  Accordingly, each prophetic event recorded between Revelation 9:14 and 11:14 must find its fulfillment in the period of the sixth trumpet — between the first and the second woes. 1942

Note carefully that the description of the sixth trumpet  begins with the fourteenth verse of Revelation 9 and ends with the fourteenth verse of Revelation 11. Thus all the events between these verses transpire during the sixth trumpet.

Let us go to the next reference, which is taken from 2TG Number 15, entitled:

THAT WHICH IS TO BE DURING THE SIXTH TRUMPET WHILE PROBATION STILL LASTS

TEXT OF ADDRESS BY V.T. HOUTEFF,

MINISTER OF D. SEVENTH-DAY ADVENTISTS

SABBATH, NOVEMBER 15,1947

CARMEL CHAPEL

WACO, TEXAS

The subject of our study is found in Revelation, chapters 10 and 11.  We shall begin with– Rev. 10:1 {2TG15: 3.1}

This address was given on November 15, 1947 and it reiterates the statement in 1942 which we just read in Tract No. 5.  Let us read it again, it says:

TN5: 79.2: With the fourteenth verse of Revelation 9 begins the description of the sixth trumpet, and it ends with the fourteenth verse of Revelation 11…. 1942

Let us look at some of the events of the sixth trumpet as published in 1947 in 2TG Number 15, page 5, paragraph 2:

Rev. 10:8-10 — “And the voice which I heard from heaven spake unto me again, and said, Go and take the little book which is open in the hand of the angel which standeth upon the sea and upon the earth.  And I went unto the angel, and said unto him, Give me the little book.  And he said unto me, Take it, and eat it up; and it shall make thy belly bitter, but it shall be in thy mouth sweet as honey.  And I took the little book out of the angel’s hand, and ate it up; and it was in my mouth sweet as honey: and as soon as I had eaten it, my belly was bitter.”

The interpretation says:

2TG15: 5.2: To eat the book is, as it were, to “swallow” its sayings.  The honey sweet must be the joy that comes from its promises, and obviously the bitter denotes inability to digest, to comprehend all, and thus a disappointment.  These, you know met fulfillment in the days of the First Advent Movement, when through the study of the book of Daniel, they learned that the cleansing of the Sanctuary (Dan. 8:14) was to begin in the year 1844, but who misunderstood the cleansing to mean the end of the world and the return of Christ.  The disappointment came after the set date had passed and after the expectation of the people failed to materialize.

Therefore, Rev 8:9-10 refers to the First Advent Movement. Let us now turn to:

Rev. 10:11–“And he said unto me, Thou must prophesy again before many peoples, and nations, and tongues, and kings.”

2TG15: 6.1: After the disappointment they were commanded to prophesy again; that is, again to proclaim the cleansing of the Sanctuary.  This work they were to do among many peoples, nations, tongues, and kings, obviously not to all.

2TG15: 6.2: Thus it was that the first Advent Movement was reorganized and renamed, Seventh-day AdventistsThe Seventh-day Adventist organization, therefore, will not finish the work.  Its message does not go to all people, to all nations, tongues, and kings.  Consequently, the Church, too, is to be reorganized if the Gospel of the Kingdom is to be preached to all nations.  “‘A revival and a reformation must take place under the ministration of the Holy Spirit.  Revival and reformation are two different things.  Revival signifies a renewal of spiritual life, a quickening of the powers of mind and heart, a resurrection from spiritual death.  Reformation signifies a reorganization, a change in ideas and theories, habits and practices.'” — Christ Our Righteousness, pg. 121, 1941 edition.

Accordingly, between Rev. 10:10 and Rev 10:11 we have the first Advent Movement and the Seventh-day Adventists, which are the 6th and 9th-hour churches. They came into existence after the sixth angel sounded the trumpet. Thus it is that if the 6th trumpet did not sound, there is no Seventh-day Adventist church.

Now that we have heard the truth of the events which must occur during the sixth trumpet, let us now hear what the additions to the message published by Florence Houteff and her associates after the prophet’s death have to say. We shall yet again consider this in juxtaposition with the pure Rod:

Volume 12SC Number 2, page 4, paragraphs 1 and 2 reads:

12SC2:  4.1: Now we wish to ascertain what period we are living in.  At the sounding of the sixth trumpet, the four angels are to be let loose and they are then to kill a third part of men; and their army, moreover, is to number 200,000,000 “horsemen” and that many “horses.”  Since no such thing as this has ever happened, it therefore speaks for itself that the sixth trumpet is yet in the future.  It has not yet commenced to sound.

12SC2:  4.2: In view of the fact that we are not living in the sixth trumpet, let us ascertain whether we may be in the sounding of the fifth trumpet, or whether it, too, is yet future.

In juxtaposition-Sixth Trumpet

In juxtaposition, we can see that according to the pure Rod the sixth trumpet sounded sometime before the vail to the Most Holy apartment of the heavenly sanctuary was lifted; but these publications added after the prophet’s death are telling us that the sixth trumpet is yet in the future! It has not yet commenced to sound!

Let us put these statements in juxtaposition:

A thorough contradiction

In 1942, through Tract No. 5, the Lord says that the sixth trumpet sounded and also gives us the verses that describe the sixth trumpet (Rev 9:14 to Rev 11:14). These obviously include Rev 10:8-10 and Rev. 10:11 which is the fulfilment of the first Advent Movement and the Seventh-day Adventist movement as published in 2TG No. 15 in 1947.

That is why, if you remember, Florence Houteff said in 11SC No. 2 that Br. Houteff was changing 2TG No. 15. Consequently, she is making the argument that this TG is changed — we must not go by it — the prophet did not get to finish the changes and so she is making the changes. She is telling us that the Seventh-day Adventist Church is not in existence; Sin is indeed a mystery!

The third reference in the middle column says:

12SC2:  8.0: The fifth trumpet, therefore, sounded when Christ came nearly 2,000 years ago.  We find ourselves therefore living in the period of the sounding of the fifth trumpet — the Christian period — before the sounding of the sixth trumpet.

This is a thorough contradiction to what was published by Br. Houteff in 1942 and reiterated in 1947. But somewhere along the line, according to Florence, Br. Houteff supposedly preached a sermon contradicting both of these statements in Tract No. 5 and 2TG No. 15!

The question is: Why would the prophet change from the 1942 position in 1946; change back to it in 1947; and then later go tell Florence Houteff that he was going to change this TG — only to die and have us dependent upon her to change the contents thereof?

I say: Weigh the evidences brethren; the additions versus “that which is published” by the Lord’s prophet — you decide.

But I say, these sermons need to go where they belong — in the fire place.

They Belong In The Fire Place

That is where they belong — every last one of them; burnt to a crisp; to ashes —so that no one will ever be contaminated by them again.

Should the purveyors of these poisonous publications tell you that they have the “original manuscripts,” share this reference with them:

TN10: 15.1:  … — all these conclusions are firmly founded on the solid facts established herein in simplicity; not, dear reader, on fables or on translations unknown to you, or on so-called “original manuscripts,” which you yourself cannot read, and which are not accessible to you, and some of which do not even exist!

The promulgators of these false doctrines will tell you that they have the “original manuscripts”; they saw the “original manuscripts.” Well, we have just heard what the Lord tells us about “original manuscripts.”

The Lord tells us to “Teach only that which is published,” not “that which is found in original manuscripts” which no one else has access to but these so-called ministers.

But then again, let me tell you what they have. They do not have original manuscripts of Br. Houteff’s sermons — they have original manuscripts of the very new symbolic codes that these sermons were published in! — Yet they are fooling themselves and others that they have “original manuscripts.” They are not original manuscripts; they are the last copies of the new symbolic codes before they were sent to press. I saw it for myself.

Sister Houteff said that she got them from notes and that is where we must leave it. We must not try to invent “manuscripts.”

This abomination of the additions has been put in the fireplace. Let us now cry out against the next abomination which is: “Tormenting of the 9th-hour church, or mother as we call the SDA church, with the distribution of literature in front of the churches on Sabbath, at camp meetings, at the General Conference, and other SDA events.
